February 8, 2026  Day 46  The word of the day is PINK!

We made it to Georgetown! The trip started out beautifully, but once evening came, the weather did not match the forecast. The waves were much higher than expected, and wow—it was rolly. And it went on for hours. I officially declared it the most treacherous trip of them all. It took a few days for that memory to fade!

When we arrived in Georgetown, this is what we saw: boat after boat after boat. I’ve never seen so many boats in one place. For the record, we did not catch a mahi. When we pulled the line in, it was covered in seaweed—something we never thought to check…. rolling eyes.

We made it to the beach yesterday and discovered the most adorable pool area at the resort. We also hiked some trails, and I couldn’t get over the pink trail markers—so cute!

On a less positive note, it appears the knot-tying lesson retention was… less than one might hope for. As a result, we are now holding daily knot-tying school until mastery of four knots is achieved. We’re also planning to begin dinghy driving school tomorrow, once the wind dies down. That should be interesting!

Every morning they have a cruiser radio chat on channel 72 at 8 am.  They do the weather, boat business, daily events, swap/trade etc… very nice!

Today’s game plan includes a pig roast. Even better, our friends Methuselah just arrived in the same mooring field, and we’re excited to spend time with them.

We just checked the weather in North Carolina and Upstate New York—unbelievably cold! Stay warm!!
