February 4, 2026  Day 42 Survived the storm

We spent five days at the marina….PRICEY!  However, if we had to be anywhere, we were all grateful to be there and not out anchored. The storm is something I won’t forget for a long time. The wind gusted up to 46 knots, and hearing it howl through the rigging is unforgettable. Thankfully, only two boats sustained damage. Here is a pic of the sunset the day after the storm.

We spent those five days with our small group and feel incredibly fortunate to have met such amazing friends.

After the storm passed, we were able to explore the island and resort—though it was definitely cold. There’s a school called Island School, a very cool marine and research school. I rode my bike through the campus and took a few photos. Home - The Island School

I was able to get in a bike ride to the cliffs. Apparently brave souls jump off these.

Today we’re sailing to Georgetown in the Exumas! It should be about an 18-hour trip. Unfortunately we are sailing too fast to arrive before dawn so we will have to slow down at some point soon. Because of all the reefs, it is too dangerous to arrive before dawn. I was hoping to be done with overnights, but we want to get farther south, and hopefully the next front that comes through won’t be as bad. These trips are hard on Steve ( although he won’t admit it) when he has such a green first mate! The water is about 1 mile deep and we have our line out again … hoping for a mahi 🙂.

On to the next adventure…
