February 24, 2026 Day 62
It’s been 10 days since our last post — where has the time gone?
The Georgetown Cruising Regatta is in full swing, and we took part in the poker run. We may have enjoyed ourselves a little too much at each stop because we never made it to the final one to collect our last card! In the end, it didn’t matter — no one had a particularly strong hand anyway.
Laundry day turned into an adventure of its own. After an hour in the dryer, our clothes were still wet. That’s when we discovered the propane tank was empty. What was supposed to be a short wait for a replacement turned into 2.5 hours. When a small propane tank finally arrived, it overheated the dryer and burned our clothes — melted elastic and shrunk just about everything. Not exactly the fresh laundry feeling we were hoping for!
Now infant sized..LOL
These poor folks’ boat ran aground, and we figured they might be waiting quite a while for the tide to come back in. Thankfully, help arrived quickly to assist them — and the evening was saved!
One afternoon at Coconut Beach Club, we spotted a girl wearing an Augustine hat — the first time we’ve ever seen one of Caitlin’s designs “out in the wild!” Thanks to Steve, we were able to strike up a conversation and discovered it was Cass and Keen Sailing / Splash House. Such a fun, small-world moment. She said she loves her hat - the maui cruiser ☺️.
It’s always hard when family leaves, but this goodbye was especially memorable — and not exactly relaxing. With no water taxis available, they had to take the dinghy to the mainland (thankfully with the new 15hp motor). It turned into a pretty wild — and honestly, a little dangerous — ride, with waves crashing in and soaking their suitcases. They all made it safely to shore.
For their final night, they stayed at a hotel, blow-drying clothes and doing their best to get everything dry in time for travel the next day. The hats were safe — carefully sealed inside garbage bags. Priorities!
And as if that wasn’t enough excitement, yesterday Steve discovered an issue with the generator. Turns out its the water pump. We’re now working on getting the necessary part here… stay tuned!
So glad you were able to have your daughter visit!! I am so sorry about your laundry… ugh! I have not used the propane dryers on my clothes. I had heard the propane can run pretty hot. On this trip l can’t afford my clothes to get any more snug. Scott doesn’t mind me using the boat as a clothes line!!!
