February 12 Day 50

The weather is finally starting to improve here—we’re seeing a little less wind and warmer temperatures, which has been wonderful.

We’ve visited the famous Chat N Chill beach bar a few times since many of the activities are held there. We attended a pig roast, and I even got to pet a stingray (which sounds a little ridiculous, I know!). Apparently, the rays love conch. When conch is prepared at Chat N Chill, the leftovers are tossed into the water, so the rays have become very docile and friendly.

Dinghy lessons are continuing, and I made it all the way to town! I’m not docking the boat yet, but I was able to go through the bridge on the way out without Steve having to grab the wheel. Progress each time 😊

Yesterday, I attended beach yoga—my first time doing yoga on the beach—and it was a perfect morning. It was especially nice to go with the other girls we’ve been spending time with. Everyone loved it. I’ve decided this absolutely needs to be part of my everyday life when I’m back in Wilmington. We’ve tentatively planned for Friday… no firm commitments, of course.

Yesterday we headed back to Chat N Chill for chicken dinner and dancing! However, I must confess we arrived later than planned. About three-quarters of the way there—in our little 2.5 HP motor dinghy—I realized the tickets were still on the boat… in the pocket of my other shorts.

So, back we went.

Round two: pulling up to the beach without getting too wet (now with an audience), attempting to find a decent spot, climbing out without being tossed into the water, anchoring properly, and then tracking down our friends. eye roll....

Today we’re planning to do some hiking.

Have a wonderful Thursday!
